Cameco Corp. ja uraanimarkkina: Tärkeän toimialan suurimman yhtiön alhainen pörssiarvo

Maailmassa on 450 ydinreaktoria jakautuen seuraavasti, USA (99), Ranska (58), Japani (42), Kiina (39), Venäjä (37), Etelä-Korea (24), Intia (22), Kanada (19), Ukraina (15), UK (15) ja maailman kaikki muut maat yhteensä (37). Näiden ydinvoimaloiden pyörittämiseen tarvitaan vuodessa n. 62 000 tonnia uraania, laatua U-235. Uraania esiintyy luonnossa melko paljon ja laajasti mutta ydinvoimaloiden polttoaineena käytettyä U-235-sorttista vähemmän. Maailman suurimmat uraanituottajamaat ovat Kazakhstan (40%), Kanada (23 %), Australia (10%), Niger (6%), Namibia (6%) ja Venäjä (5%).  Voidaan siis todeta, että maailman suurimmat uraaninkäyttäjät ovat kaikki pitkälti tuontiuraanin varassa.
